Why Quality Carpet Installation Should be a High Priority
Stop by our small and inviting showroom on Route 71 in Belmar to see our wide variety of beautiful and durable natural fiber options like sisal, coir, wool or organic cotton. Our carpeting from Wools of New Zealand is one of our best sellers.
We are also authorized dealers for several high-quality carpet manufacturers, including:
- Godfrey Hirst
- Silver Creek
Wool, a non-allergenic and naturally stain-resistant fiber, is sustainable, produced from a totally renewable resource and is biodegradable as well as moth-resistant. Unlike the synthetic alternatives, which often contain toxins like polypropylene or 4-phenylcyclohexane, wool carpet actually improves air quality by absorbing common contaminants like formaldehyde, nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide often found in your indoor air. It also works to provide a more balanced environment by absorbing moisture in humid conditions and then releasing it when the atmosphere becomes dry.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, over 90 percent of commercial carpet is now “tufted,” a process that requires the usage of chemical-laden glues containing benzene or styrene, a possible human carcinogen, and other chemicals that have been proven to cause ailments in children and adults like asthma, allergies and nervous system effects such as depression, loss of concentration, weakness, fatigue and nausea.
And wool carpeting lasts! A typical lifespan of a wool carpet is 50 years or more while synthetic alternatives can start showing wear and tear in as little as 3-5 years. Wool carpets are also flame resistant, while the chemicals in synthetic carpets might make them highly flammable.
So, as you can see, the choice seems pretty clear.
